One of their light walkers carried a weapon of lethal effect. It fired a form of ultra-high velocity projectile. I saw one of our tanks after having been hit by it. There was a small hole punched in either flank - one the projectile's entry point, the other its exit. The tiny monition had passed through the vehicle with such speed that everything within the hull not welded down had been sucked out through the exit hole. Including the crew. We never identified their bodies, for all that remained of them was a read stain upon the ground, extending some twenty metres from the wreck.

Tau are awesome, the new codexes of Orks and Deamonica are amazing. So, what could be even better than what we have now?
I give you... Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition.
Cheers!

| Shasocastris, I have feeling you might be asked to take this down for legal reasons. I know that warseer hasn't allowed this to be posted on their forum, although there had been A LOT of discussion about it there.
That aside I'm still skeptical about how genuine this is; anyone with a scanner and the right software could produce it.
I'd also be surprised if GW brought out 5th Edition before updating the rest of the 3rd edition codices, namely Witch Hunters, Daemon hunters, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Space Wolves. The next Codex is going to be Daemons, probably in May, so there isn't likely to be another 40k release before August anyway. Would they really replace the basically sound 4th Edition rules with such a backlog of codexes to do?
I remember listening to Jervis Johnson at a seminar one evening at the Grand Tournament. Someone asked him when they start work on new editions of a game. His answer was, soon after the current edition is released! From some of his standard bearer articles in WD I get the impression that the Games Designers tinker with rules regularly to see what could be improved. I could imagine this is a leaked play test document but I don't think it can be considered definitive in any way.
Just my thoughts. Infantryman | | Back to top

| This will most likly be a play test doc and not finished however some of the principle ideas in this might be in the next set and I wouldn't think a new set of 40k rules will come out until this summer at least. Also from what I know of the new rules I fear this will hit mech Eldar and especially Dark Eldar really hard although I admit that Eldar skimmers are a bit to powerful >.< but then again they are the most technologicaly advanced race in the galaxy(that you can play) after the Necrons and that Monolith is way harder to take down XD not that I'm dissing tau technology here ^^ | | Back to top | |

The document itself gives us no clues about its origins, so it could as well be the work of an individual (with a lot of time, that's true), rather than the product of GW. That is the reason why i am not going to remove this document. but if anyone knows the true origins of this document and it becomes clear this document was stolen from GW, please tell us, for we don't want any preventable trouble with GW.
On the other hand, we have to keep in mind it is very well possible that GW has leaked it on purpose, so that they can see our reactions and possibly adjust stuff.
Having said this, i'm going to thoroughly read this baby!

One caste for the protection of our race, for their skills and strategies will defend us all.
One caste for the construction of a safe place, for without their technology our empire would fall.
One caste for our faraway travels, for their ships will bring us through the galaxy.
One caste for the talking at all levels, for their smooth words will pave our road to victory.
In our galaxy there will only be the Tau’va. One caste to rule them all, one caste to guid them, one caste to bring them all, and in the era of the Mont’au, bind them. In our galaxy there will only be the Tau’va. | | Back to top

| to be honest... 4th edition is pretty crud, and 5th (if the this is true) looks worse in a lot of ways.
